LISTEN TO MEN SHARING THEIR SUPPORT

Following on from our first two No Small Talk Dinners last year, we decided to bring it back and across the country to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

WHY ARE THESE EVENTS IMPORTANT?
Breaking the stigma around Men's mental health. Giving men a safe space to express their emotions, talk about how they are feeling without judgement, show them there is always a willing ear to listen and encourage them to share their lives with their friends, talk about their problems and emotions and check in with their mates.

No Small Talk - What to Expect?

Our No Small Talk event series is kicking off on Wednesday, 23rd of March, and we just wanted to let you know that some of the content shared both at the events and on our socials may be overwhelming or emotional for some. At Neighbourhood, we believe in the power of storytelling, human to human connection and sharing our truth.

When it comes to mental health, the truth can sometimes be really heavy and difficult to manage. If you feel like you aren’t in the place to hear these things please put your well-being and safety first.

You are welcome to attend events with a support person by purchasing them a ticket too or if they’re supporting from afar and you ever need extra help, free call or text 1737 at any time. Our kaupapa of making Aotearoa and safer and happier place for everyone will be a lifelong mission, join it at your own pace, whenever you feel ready.

Testimonials from NST guests

I attended a “No Small Talk” event in April 2021. The event was extremely well curated with speakers from various different backgrounds with incredible stories and journeys. I left the evening feeling extremely inspired, elevated in fact. Hearing everyone’s stories made me more open and aware of the everyday mental struggles many face. It was great to see the community coming together! - Fil (NST Auckland)

No Small Talk cracked open an important conversation, in a group of total strangers and made it feel like you were at home. Topped off with yummy food and drink, you really couldn’t go wrong. Cheers NST - you really kicked started my weekend.” - Bri (NST Auckland)

The 'No Small Talk' dinner taught me that camaraderie, often stemming from shared experiences or beliefs, can truly blossom from a shared readiness to interact with open ears and an open heart. No matter our individual reasons for walking into that space, we came out together! I am so grateful that I got to experience such a beautiful night. - Edin (NST Hawkes Bay)

To the No Small Talk team, thank you so much for an unforgettable evening. From the food, the low key venue and of course the speakers. Hearing the voices of those stepping up to mens mental health through their own experiences and how they are making a difference was hella inspiring. The insights gained made me step up and reach out to a mate who needed it which felt great! Looking forward to the next one! - Andy (NST Auckland)
