What’s been your journey in the creative field?

Cliched, but growing up I always had my camera on me and would be that friend who forced their other friends into spontaneous photoshoots at the mall and acting in multiple home movies. I have a section on my hard drive with over 50 folders in it labeled ‘hanging with my friends’ from 2011 alone. I pursued that creative side of myself after highschool and went to study design at University but ended up leaving to work for one of my favourite fashion labels. The experience was pretty eye opening to the design and backend of growing a successful label and it showed me a lot about the industry which I'm grateful for. From there it all escalated to the point where myself and one of my closest friends Ash (@ashrice__), are in the works of launching our own creative agency called House Twelve - to provide our own visionary services to brands.

Who or what inspires you?

My friends. Instagram. Looking at my saved posts. Talking to someone and having the type of conversation that gets me inspired to create something as soon as it ends. Planning a shoot. Going for walks but leaving my phone at home. The NZ and UK creative scene. Picking up my camera. New gen.

What do you do when you’re having a creative block?

This is the worst. I was in one for almost a year. I found I just wasn't making the time for it outside of a 9-5 job. Which sucked. I’m freelancing full time at the moment and I feel so much more motivated to get out and create more which I love !!! If I get back in that headspace then I just need to step back and see what's stopping me.

How did House Twelve come about?

Super naturally, there was no sudden decision, it just kind of happened and now we’re taking it seriously. Ash and I would do enough shoots with our friends in our spare time together that we just thought we’d make it official. Co-founding a creative agency that is able to provide smaller brands with authentic content of their products sounded pretty fun too.

What do you want to achieve with it?

The industry can get so saturated with the same thing so we just want to have fun with it, try new things and work with people who want to execute cool ideas.

What are you looking forward to the most in the future?

Time! Finally having more of it to work on my own thing. Also travel. I’d love to go and spend more time in London at some point in the future.
